Mr. Maxwell Lukutor, Member of Parliament for South Tongu District in the Volta Region has inspected the stalled Agordomi Water Project expansion as part of his ongoing engagements with contractors and project managers overseeing key development initiatives in the constituency.
The inspection revealed that work on the project has been at a standstill for the past three years due to funding challenges.
According to the MP, the Government of Ghana currently owes the contractor €63 million for work already executed, while an additional €12 million is required to procure critical equipment and complete the first phase of the project within six months.
Mr. Lukutor stressed that the completion of the Agordomi Water Project is crucial to improving access to potable water for thousands of residents in Sogakope, Keta, Anloga, Aflao and several surrounding communities.
He noted that access to safe and reliable drinking water is a basic necessity and assured constituents that he is taking steps to ensure the project resumes without further delay.
“I have already engaged the Ministers for Works, Housing and Water Resources and Finance to urgently facilitate the release of funds so work can resume immediately,” the MP stated.
Mr. Lukutor reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for the timely completion of the project, saying he would continue to engage the relevant authorities until the water supply scheme is delivered for the benefit of the people.
