Tegbi (Anloga District) — July 23 2026
Madam Jemimah Misornu, the Anloga District Health Director, has urged adolescents to be assertive in making decisions that affect their health, wellbeing, and future.
She encouraged young people to prioritise their adolescent sexual and reproductive health rights by openly discussing their concerns with trusted individuals and seeking support when necessary.
Sharing her personal experience, Madam Misornu said she faced peer pressure during her youthful years but remained determined to make positive choices.
“As young ones, you must have the ability to express your thoughts, feelings, needs, and boundaries clearly, honestly, and respectfully, without being passive or aggressive,” she advised.
She further encouraged students to remain focused on their education, stressing that, “as adolescents, you must say ‘yes’ to your books and ‘no’ to anything that can negatively affect your future.”
Madam Misornu made the call during an adolescent health sensitisation programme organised at the Tegbi Health Centre by Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) in funding partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

The programme which brought together more than fifty pupils from nearby schools like Tegbi Kpota EP Basic School sought to educate young people on adolescent health, reproductive rights, and ways to make informed decisions.
The District Health Director also urged adolescents to report any form of gender-based violence they experience or witness at home, school, or within their communities to enable the appropriate authorities to protect them and provide the needed support.
Issues surrounding adolescent sexual and reproductive health continue to be a major concern affecting young boys and girls in the Anloga District, including challenges related to access to information, early sexual activities, and protection from gender-based violence.
The sustained interventions by PPAG and UNFPA have contributed significantly to educating and empowering adolescents in the district, equipping them with knowledge and skills to make informed decisions about their health and future.
Madam Misornu commended the initiatives and pledged her continued collaboration among health institutions, schools, parents, traditional authorities, and other stakeholders to safeguard the wellbeing of adolescents.
