Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) at Sogakope responded swiftly to a commercial fire outbreak near GCB PLC on Sunday, 15 February 2026.
The crew arrived at the scene just five minutes after receiving a distress call at 17:40 GMT. Reinforcements from the Adidome and Akatsi fire stations were deployed to support firefighting operations.
This information was made public to the media by the Public Relations department of the GNFS
The blaze was brought under control by 18:30 GMT and fully extinguished at 18:55 GMT, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures, including GCB PLC and the adjoining Ghana Post Office.
Two metal containers used as a fashion design and provisions shop and a carpentry shop were destroyed in the fire.
