Sylvia Awuye extends support to Providence Children’s Home
Sylvia Esie Awuye, a journalist and philanthropist in the Ketu South municipality supports Providence Children’s Home in Aflao to promote proper care for the children
The project dubbed “Unity Table Project” was launched in May this year to provide adequate furniture for the over 50 children housed in the centre
A total of 25 chairs and 5 tables and other materiels were presented to the Home on Tuesday August 13th 2024, comprising 15 chairs and 3 tables donated to children below nine years old while 10 chairs and 2 tables to children above nine years old.
According to Madam Sylvia, the project was motivated by her conviction to support humanity especially less privileged children.
“I named this support a unity table project because I want the children to be united while they dine and study despite their circumstances, they must be united to learn to achieve greater things,”
“Together we can create a very conducive environment for these children, they didn’t chose to grow up in such condition but circumstances outside their control placed them here, so we must all come together in our small ways to support them, I am grateful to all those who donated to help me achieve this project,” Sylvia said
Receiving the items was Mr Godwin Allui Isaiah, Manager of Providence Children’s Home, who expressed his excitement with the support and promised to work hard to make sure the centre serves its objectives of providing a united, conducive, and loving environment for such less privileged children.
“Madam Sylvia has been a friend of this home, we are thrilled with her support and it will go a long way to help us provide a perfect home for our children, God bless her and anyone who supports us,” Mr Allui promised
Providence Children’s Home located at Aflao-Fiadohukope houses about 50 children from across the municipal and other adjourning districts, the orphanage in recent times faced challenges of inadequate furniture for dining and studies resulting in many children dining and studying on shift bases. The Unity table project will solve this problem for the children seeking refuge at the orphanage.
The Unity Table Project forms series of other similar projects embarked on by the young journalist to the center and other less privileged communities within the Kertu South municipality
