President John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to undertake a week-long diplomatic tour, visiting Dubai’s high-tech hubs and addressing the Zambian National Assembly, as Ghana endeavors to strengthen its presence within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

A statement signed by the government’s spokesperson, Felix Ofosu Kwakye disclosed that the President was joined by First Lady Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama and departed Accra for the United Arab Emirates on Sunday.

The tour’s inaugural phase involves participation in the esteemed World Governments Summit 2026 in Dubai, scheduled from February 2 to 4.

The President’s travel arrangements are facilitated by a special aircraft courtesy of the UAE Ruler, underscoring the robust bilateral relationship between Ghana and the UAE.

Following the Dubai summit, the Ghanaian delegation will proceed to Lusaka for a three-day State Visit to Zambia, commencing on February 4, at the invitation of Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema.

Key highlights of the visit include high-level deliberations on regional security and diplomatic cooperation, with a focus on accelerating the continental free trade framework to enhance youth employment and economic independence.

A Ghana-Zambia Business Dialogue will be convened to explore opportunities for exporting Ghana’s digital and fintech expertise to Zambia. During the visit, President Mahama is scheduled to deliver an address to the Zambian National Assembly, focusing on ‘The Connected Africa’ initiative, which emphasizes the need for improved transport infrastructure and seamless cross-border movement.

Additionally, the President will host a town hall meeting with Ghanaian expatriates in Lusaka, ensuring their concerns remain a priority for the administration.

President Mahama and his delegation are anticipated to return to Accra upon concluding the State Visit on February 6.
