Presidency dissolves boards of state institutions
The Presidency of Ghana has formally announced the cessation of board memberships for all statutory boards, corporations, commissions, and councils appointed by the previous administration. This directive, in compliance with the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845), became effective on January 7, 2025, following the assumption of office by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama.
In a statement issued on January 13, 2025, the Presidency clarified that the directive excludes commissions established as independent constitutional entities. The affected bodies will be reconstituted in due course per their enabling laws.
The President expressed gratitude to the outgoing members for their service and wished them success in their future endeavors. Management of these institutions has been instructed to seek clearance from the Chief of Staff before undertaking any major decisions.
