Past Students of Akatsi College of Education elect new PASU Executives

The Past Akatsico Students Union (PASU), representing former students of Akatsi College of Education, has elected new leaders to guide the union for the next three years.

The election was held during the annual general meeting (AGM) over the weekend at the College’s premises in Akatsi, in the Volta Region.

In a competitive election, Mr Edmund Agbadza emerged as the new President, securing 85 votes out of the 127 valid votes cast.

Mr George Yaovi Bruce was elected Vice President, Madam Rebecca Adjei was elected secretary, and Madam Monica Agblosoo became assistant secretary. Organizing Secretary was won by Maxwell Agbaze, Mr Godknows Ahiagba is the public relations officer while Madam Seraphine Kumeko was elected as treasurer Micheal Milenyakpor was elected as financial secretary.

Mr Edmund Agbadza, the newly elected President, expressed his commitment to revive the Union.

He emphasized his intention to engage more past students, many of whom have been disconnected from the union’s activities in recent years.

“My focus during my tenure will be to revive PASU and bring all members together to strengthen the union,” he said. He also pledged to complete ongoing projects initiated by the previous leadership, including the PASU project currently under construction.

The outgoing President, Mr. Sylvester Tornyeava, in his goodwill message, encouraged the new leadership to dedicate themselves to advancing the union’s goals.

“As new executives, it is your responsibility to elevate PASU and work in close collaboration with the College administration to help the institution grow and achieve its desired vision,” he shared.

The newly elected executives have also expressed their commitment to prioritising the welfare of the union’s members and continuing the progress initiated by their predecessors.

Apart from the elections, the union also had deliberations on other important matters including progress of work on PASU projects, the presentation of audit reports of the union. Other deliberations include Alumni awards and graduation issues.

Union members present expressed happiness over the outcome of the elections saying they believe the new executive will steer their affairs for a better progress

The Akatsi College of Education is a Bachelors Degree awarding teacher training institution located at Akatsi in the Volta Region of Ghana. It was established on October 1963 and has been producing prominent facilitators over the years towards nations educational development
