ORAL committee presents report to President Mahama, reveals over $20 billion recovery

The Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team delivered a report to President John Dramani Mahama, highlighting the initiative’s profound impact on fostering a culture of transparency and accountability in governance.

The ceremony which took place at the Jubilee House Monday afternoon saw Honourbale Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, former ORAL chairman and Minister for Foreign Affairs, presented the findings, which demonstrate significant public engagement.

According to Mr Ablakwa, ORAL’s communication channels, including a toll-free hotline and email system, were instrumental in gathering public concerns with 1,493 calls received and 924 emails, totalling 2,417 complaints.

Ablakwa emphasized that this high volume of feedback is a clear indication of the initiative’s effectiveness and the public’s trust in the process.

He also indicated that about $20.49 billion US Dollars can be retrieved from some thirty-six (36) cases including the National Cathedral project, PDS and others

He praised President Mahama’s foresight in establishing ORAL, asserting that the results have validated the decision. Ablakwa added that this initiative has proven to be timely and vital for promoting accountability, saying, “President Mahama has been vindicated—this was the right call for our nation.”

The report reflects ORAL’s ongoing dedication to enhancing governance by addressing public grievances and strengthening transparency efforts.
