Old Students of Akporkploe Basic School donates items worth GH₵25,000 alma mater

Old Students Association of Akporkploe Basic School has made a significant educational donation to its alma mater, in Aflao, as part of efforts to promote academic excellence and support modern teaching and learning.  

The donation which took place at the school’s premises in the Ketu South Municipality included items worth GH₵25,000.  

The items comprised of assorted books and electronic learning equipment aimed at enhancing both traditional classroom instruction and digital learning at the school.  

Mr Foga Nukunu, a member of the association’s leadership, explained that the donation was to fulfill a pledge made a year ago during the school’s 50th anniversary celebration.   

According to Mr Fogah, the association’s committed itself to supporting the school as part of sustained efforts to improve academic performance.  

“This donation is in fulfillment of a promise we made during the school’s 50th anniversary. Our main focus is academic excellence, and we believe these materials will positively impact teaching and learning,” he stated.  

Mr Nukunu noted that the gesture was also intended to instill in the current pupils a sense of responsibility and the importance of giving back to their communities.  

Other items were  new curriculum textbooks for all subject areas, storybooks, dictionaries, maps and atlas, early childhood learning materials, learning charts, and significant among them was a set of satellite Television equipment such as, a flat-screen Smart TV and decoder to support e-learning activities in the school.  

Mr Helu Samuel Sebastian, headmaster of the school, receiving the items on behalf of the school expressed profound gratitude to the old students for their continued support and commitment to the development of the school.  

“We are deeply grateful to our old students for this support. These items will go a long way to enhance effective teaching and learning, especially with the introduction of e-learning,” he said.   

He said, the presence of the old students had inspired them to learn hard and pursue academic excellence despite obstacles.   

Apart from the donation exercise, they had the chance to interact with the student body on their predicament and how to rain focused on their academic work.   

Mr Fovi Nukunu, another member of the delegation, advised the students to put the items to good use to realise their potentials.
