NPP Primary: Police to deploy 70 officers at each 333 polling stations

Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has reiterated the Service’s preparedness for the forthcoming presidential primary scheduled for January 31st.

The IGP has assured the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of tight security measures during the primary elections scheduled for January 31.

He disclosed that a minimum of 70 police personnel will be deployed at each polling centre nationwide to ensure a serene and credible process.

The IGP reiterated this assurance at the signing of a peace pact on January 31, 2026.

Additionally, he mentioned that the Service has formally notified the Minister for the Interior to engage the Minister of Defence in facilitating military support specifically in the Bawku area.

He clarified that apart from Bawku, the military will be on standby across the country while the police take the lead in maintaining security.

“We have enough police personnel on the field, with the exception of Bawku. That is the area where we may need the support of the military,” Mr. Yohuno stated.

“We are assuring you that at least 70 is the minimum number of police personnel that will be stationed at each polling station. We have deployed heavily, and all senior officers will be present at the polling stations.”
