Military helicopter missing; unconfirmed reports suggest crash in Ashanti Region

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have issued a statement confirming that one of their helicopters has gone missing from radar on Wednesday, 6th July 2025.
According to the statement signed by Cpt. Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director of Public Relations of the GAF, the aircraft, identified as Z9, departed Accra at 0921 hours en route to Obuasi but lost contact shortly after takeoff. The chopper was carrying three crew members and five passengers at the time.

Hours later, unconfirmed reports emerged indicating that a military helicopter had crashed near Adansi in the Ashanti Region.
While the GAF has not yet officially linked the crash to the missing aircraft, multiple sources suggest that all eight individuals onboard, including some Government top officials, may have perished in the incident.
Further details are expected as investigations continue.
