Mama Hogbe Queens Encourage Youth to Vote Wisely and Peacefully

As the Saturday general elections draw nearer, the winners of the 2024 Mama Hogbe Beauty Pageant have called on the youth in Anlo State and beyond to exercise their voting rights responsibly, without resorting to violence.

In a recent interview with Veritas News on Thursday night, the three Queens urged young people in Anloland to avoid violent behaviour that could disrupt peace and instead come out in large numbers to vote, contributing to the country’s development.

Miss Sandra Andrea Delali Gakpe, the winner, shared her message saying: “Fellow Anlo Youth, as we prepare to exercise our democratic right on Saturday, I want to remind each of you of the importance of peace and unity. Although elections can sometimes bring tension and division, we must not let these emotions take over. Remember, no matter our differences, we are all part of the same community. Let’s choose peace, love, and unity over conflict and division. Our diversity is our strength.”

She also called on them to obey electoral laws as a way of staying out of trouble.

“As we go out to vote, remember to obey the various rules governing the process on the day, this is how we can avoid any form of agitations,”

Miss Rita Sedem Amematror, the 1st runner-up, added, “I’m advocating for a peaceful election. Let’s vote wisely and peacefully on Saturday. Reject violence, promote harmony, and respect differing opinions. Together, we can build a peaceful and prosperous Anlo State and Ghana.”

Miss Stella Sewonumafe Sodzi, the 2nd runner-up, emphasized, “As the current queens of the Mama Hogbe pageantry, we have had the privilege of interacting with many of you, and we’re continually inspired by your energy, passion, and dedication to creating positive change,”

Stella also adviced the youth to avoid monetisation on election day. “Remember to avoid any form of inducement from politicians to vote for them but rather vote based on issues not money,” Stella said

The three Queens believe that, united, the youth can create a brighter, more peaceful future for themselves and future generations.

According to them, as youth, their future depends on the decisions they make in choosing their leaders hence askig thier fellow youth to vote wisely based on issues rather than mere affiliations and inducements.

They concluded their message with a call to spread peace and love throughout the community.
