Experience Volta gains Ga Mantse’s backing, welcomes Konor Keteku IV as patron

The maiden edition of the Experience Volta in Accra Festival has received a significant boost following two major developments: the formal endorsement by the Ga Mantse, HRM Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, and the appointment of Nene Nuer Keteku IV, Konor of the Agotime Traditional Area in the Volta Region, to the festival’s Council of Patrons.

Nene Nuer Keteku IV Joins Council of Patrons

Organisers have officially announced the inclusion of Nene Nuer Keteku IV, one of Ghana’s most revered traditional authorities, in the Volta Region into the Council of Patrons. As the sovereign ruler of a transnational chiefdom covering thirty-seven towns and villages across Ghana and Togo, his leadership reflects the deeply interconnected cultural identity of the Volta Region and the broader ECOWAS community.

The announcement followed a courtesy visit by the organisers (Ewevi Multimedia) to his palace last week.

Widely recognised as a custodian of the celebrated Kete (Kente) weaving tradition, Nene Nuer Keteku IV is a leading authority on the heritage craft for which the Agotime people, especially Kpetoe, are globally known. In his new role, he will champion the promotion of authentic Volta Kete, supporting artisans and reinforcing the festival’s commitment to cultural preservation.

Speaking during the visit, Nene Nuer Keteku IV noted,

“The heritage of the Volta Region is a national treasure. I am honoured to support an initiative that showcases our culture with dignity and invites the world to appreciate its depth and beauty.”

Organisers believe his presence on the Council of Patrons will elevate the festival’s visibility and guide its cultural direction. A team member remarked, “Having the Konor on board strengthens our vision and brings unparalleled authority to this festival.”

He adds up to Togbi Amenya Fiti VI, Paramount Chief of Aflao Traditional Area and HE Gabriel Kwamigah Tanko-Atokple, Volta Regional Council of State member as leading Patrons of the initiative.

Ga Mantse Tackie Teiko Tsuru II offers full support

In a related development, the festival team paid a courtesy call on the Ga Mantse, His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, at his palace in Kaneshie, Accra. The visit was to brief him on ongoing preparations and extend an invitation for him to serve as the Special Guest and Host, given that the event will take place on Ga land.

The Ga Mantse warmly welcomed the delegation and commended the initiative, assuring them of his full support and participation.

“Accra is a home for all,” he said. “Any effort that honours our diverse traditions and strengthens unity among our peoples is one I proudly support.”

His endorsement is being celebrated as a major diplomatic and cultural achievement, symbolising inter-ethnic unity, mutual respect, and strengthened collaboration between the Ga and Ewe communities.

A Festival of Unity, Identity, and Cultural Pride

Organisers say these developments mark a defining moment in the festival’s growth. With royal blessings from the Ga Mantse and the strategic cultural leadership of Nene Nuer Keteku IV, the Experience Volta in Accra Festival is poised to become one of Ghana’s most vibrant celebrations of heritage, creativity, and regional pride.

The festival will showcase the richness of Volta identity—from music, dance, crafts, couture, and gastronomy to storytelling and ancestral traditions—while fostering deeper connections between communities in Accra and the Volta Region.

A Strengthened Vision for 2025

The appointment of Nene Nuer Keteku IV and the Ga Mantse’s endorsement together signal a renewed commitment to elevating indigenous cultural festivals to national and international prominence. Stakeholders remain optimistic that this year’s edition will set a new standard in cultural diplomacy, artistic expression, and regional unity.

The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 13th December, 2025, at the El-Wak stadium in Accra and it promises a series of activities to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Volta Region
