Former Student and Athletic Coach Donates to Alma Maters
Mr. Elorm Amenakpor, an athletic coach and former student of Keta Senior High Technical School (Ketasco) and Anlo Senior High School (Anseco), has generously supported his alma maters with a donation of athletic gear.
The contribution, valued at approximately $3,000, included pairs of running spikes for each school.
Mr. Amenakpor described the gesture as a way of expressing gratitude and acknowledging the pivotal role both schools played in shaping his athletic journey.
Reflecting on the importance of giving, he shared his philosophy saying;
“If you have ten and can’t give one to someone in need, having a thousand wouldn’t make a difference—you still wouldn’t give.”
This mindset inspired his visit to the two schools, where his talent was first recognized at Ketasco and later nurtured at Anseco.
Mr. Amenakpor shared his inspiration with Veritas News that;
“My dream is to see a boy or girl from my community for that matter these schools using these shoes to achieve the heights I’ve reached or even surpass them.”
He also committed to annually supporting the athletics teams of both schools during their inter-school competitions, emphasizing his long-term dedication to discovering local talent.
Acknowledging those who contributed to the initiative, Mr. Amenakpor thanked Azamati Benjamin, Coach Matthew Stewart, and Brooke Alverson for their support, noting that their generosity will not only change individual lives but also positively influence the larger community.
He seized the opportunity to advise the students to take their academic work seriously as they pursue their God-given talents as well through co-curricular activities
Representatives from the schools expressed their appreciation for the donation. Mr. Wisdom Adeti, Headteacher of Anseco, and Mr. Nyamadi, Assistant Headmaster in charge of Academics at Ketasco, extended their gratitude on behalf of their respective institutions and assured that the items would be used to nurture future talents.
Mr. Amenakpor, who began his secondary education at Ketasco and completed it at Anseco, was a record-breaking sprint athlete with achievements at both local and international levels.
This initiative highlights the transformative power of giving back and demonstrates how local talent, with the right support, can rise to global prominence.
