E/R: 15-year-old BECE candidate slashed to death over GHc10

A 15-year-old boy who is a Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) Candidate has been slashed to death by a 17-year-old with machete to death at Akwapem Adukrom in the Eastern Region.
The two childhood good friends were engaged in an altercation over GHC10.00 which escalated into violence.
An eyewitness said “The suspect slapped me and demanded why I had slapped a member of his gang some days ago over GHC10.00. I told my friend who is now deceased what transpired. He demanded we look for the suspect and retaliate. The suspect came with cutlass amid sounds from a nearby taxi and slashed my friend on the shoulder. I had to run for my life.”
The Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital declared the victim dead on arrival as blood oozed from his body. He had cuts on his head and shoulders.
Residents are in a state of shock describing the incident among the youthful groups as unwarranted.
Families of the minor are currently mourning their loss and demanding justice.
Meanwhile, the Police have arrested three suspects- owner of the machete, the suspect, and an accomplice.
Investigation and prosecution process has since begun.
