Council of State Election: Former NDC chairman wins Ashanti Region bid after a re-run

Mr Yaw Owusu Obimpeh, former Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region, was declared winner of the just-ended Council of State election held in the Ashanti Region, on Monday 17th February 2025
Mr Obimpeh garnered 49 votes, out of a total of 85 valid votes cast. Mr Nkansah Boadu Nana Ayeboafo, received 35 votes, while Daniel Anarfi Yamoah garnered only a vote, while none of the other candidates received any votes. One delegate failed to show up for the election, there were no rejected ballot.
The Electoral Commission was forced to organise a rerun of the elections in the Ashanti Region today due to some misunderstanding and violence that prevented the February 11th elections.
