Businessman supports Keta Municipal Hospital to enhance sanitation and healthcare

Mr Thompson Teku, a businessman and philanthropist based in Anloga, has donated five sets of water closet materials to the Keta Municipal Hospital to support improved sanitation and enhance healthcare delivery at the facility.
The donation fulfils a pledge Mr Teku made in October 2025 during the launch of activities marking the hospital’s 100th anniversary celebrations, showcasing his commitment to the growth and welfare of the century-old health institution.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency Mr Teku, popularly known as Destiny explained that the gesture was motivated by gratitude and a deep personal connection to the hospital.
He recounted how the doctors and staff of the Keta Municipal Hospital saved his life a few years ago following a life-threatening road accident.
“This hospital gave me a second chance in life, and this is my small way of saying thank you,” he said. Supporting the hospital’s needs will help improve conditions for both patients and staff so they can continue saving more lives,” Mr Teku said.
Mr Teku encouraged hospital management and health workers to remain committed to quality service delivery, stressing that sustained improvement would position the facility as a preferred healthcare centre not only in the southern sector but also beyond.
He noted that enhanced services would also help reduce unnecessary referrals to other hospitals.
Togbi James Ocloo VI of Keta, the Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee, receiving the items on behalf of the hospital, expressed profound appreciation to the donor for honouring his pledge during the hospital’s centenary celebrations.
“We are deeply grateful to Destiny for this timely donation, which will go a long way to improve sanitation and comfort at the hospital,” Togbi James Ocloo VI stated.
Togbi also urged hospital management to ensure that the water closet sets are properly installed, used, and maintained for their intended purpose.
The donation forms part of broader support initiatives aimed at strengthening the Keta Municipal Hospital as it marks 100 years of continuous service to the people of Keta, Anloga, and surrounding communities.
Mr Thompson Teku, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Majet Mineral Water and Destiny Stores, is widely regarded as a benevolent figure within the Anloga–Keta area, with many residents describing his philanthropic efforts as worthy, impactful, and lifesaving.
The Keta Municipal Hospital will mark its centenary celebration later this year.
