Barker-Vormawor has been summoned to appear before Parleiments appointments Committee over ‘bribery allegations
Mr Oliver Barker-Vormawor, a social activist and a leading member of “Fix the country” movement has been summoned to appear before Parliament’s Appointments Committee to prove allegations he made concerning the committee.
Mr Barker-Vormawor claimed members of the committee has been demanding money from ministerial nominees before approving them.
Honourable Bernard Ahiafor, dismissed the accusations on Tuesday, January 28, during a vetting committee sitting, stating that no members of the committee had engaged in such practices.
He described the allegations as baseless and called for evidence to support same.
To address the matter, Mr Bernard Ahiafor has directed the Clerk of the Committee to formally invite Mr Barker-Vormawor to appear before the committee.
Mr Barker is expected to present his evidence to back the claims during a meeting on Wednesday, January 29th 2025.
This emphasises the importance of maintaining the integrity of the Appointments Committee and its processes.
Meanwhile, some members of the Appointments Committee in the minority caucus mainly from the NPP have called for the suspension of vetting on the day until Mr Vormawor appears before the Committee to respond to the allegations.
