Awoamefia Togbi Sri III calls for unity and responsible leadership in his 2026 New Year Message

The Awoamefia of Anlo State, Togbi Sri III, has delivered his 2026 New Year goodwill message to the people of Anlo Dukor, calling for divine guidance, peace, unity, and a renewed commitment to the socio-economic development of the Anlo-Ewe community.
The message, delivered on New Year’s Eve, was aimed at thanking God for His continued protection over Anlo State, commending deserving Anlo natives for their contributions to community development, and urging all citizens to uphold peace and unity as the foundation for progress.
The address was delivered in the presence of several paramount and divisional chiefs, including Togbi Zewu IV, Dufia and Paramount Chief of the Anloga Division; Togbi Haxormene IV of Tegbi; Togbi Adelashie Kotor III of Fuveme-Atiteti; Togbi Kpemini Gawu II, Togbi Subo II of Anloga; and Mama Agumedzonu II of Whuti.
The event was witnessed by a cross-section of media practitioners from various media houses and was broadcast live.
In his message, Togbi Sri III first reflected on the mercy, guidance, and protection of God Almighty over the people of Anloland, Volta Region and the entire nation, expressing gratitude for the preservation of lives, businesses and the sustenance of peace within the traditional area.
He further congratulated the Municipal Chief Executives and Members of Parliament across the six Anlo districts and the wider Volta Region, as well as Assembly Members, Paramount and Divisional Chiefs, Queen Mothers, and other traditional and opinion leaders, for the commitment and dedication with which they continue to discharge their duties in the collective interest of community development and good governance.

The Anlo overlord further called on natives of the Volta Region, particularly those of Anlo descent who have been appointed into the administration of President John Dramani Mahama, to serve with diligence, integrity, and a deep sense of responsibility to their people.
According to him, public office should not only be perceived as an avenue for personal gain, but rather as a sacred trust and an opportunity to advance the collective development of one’s homeland and improve the welfare of the citizenry.
“I am calling on all Ewes, especially Anlo natives, who have been appointed into President Mahama’s government to prioritise their commitment to their homeland. We believe that such appointments are not meant for personal gain only, but to create meaningful impact and development to where they come from,” the Awaomefia said.
The Awoamefia also used the occasion to commend President Mahama for his commitment to major infrastructural initiatives in the Volta Region, including the Keta Port Project, the Big Push road projects in the Region, and ongoing Sea Defence projects at Agavedzi. He, however, appealed to the President to extend attention to other pressing developmental challenges confronting the area.
Additionally, Togbi Sri III acknowledged the efforts of several distinguished Anlo natives whose work, he noted, has significantly contributed to the advancement of the community in sectors such as education, health, social development, and public service.
Those commended included Mr Mawuko Dzikunu, Mr Kaledzi, Mr Boglo, Mr Kumaxor, Zikpitor Dan Abodakpi, and Mr Ibrahim Mahama, whom the Awoamefia described as exemplary citizens whose dedication and commitment continue to project Anlo Dukor positively on the national stage.
The New Year message was brought to a close with prayers for God’s continued protection over all Anlo people, as well as for long life, good health, prosperity, and sustained advancement for the Anlo-Ewe community in the year ahead.
