August 4 is not a public holiday – Interior Ministry clarifies

Interior Ministry Confirms August 4, 2025, Is Not a Public Holiday
The Ministry of the Interior has announced that Monday, August 4, 2025, will not be recognized as a public holiday.
In a statement released on Thursday, July 31, 2025, the Ministry referred to the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days (Amendment) Act, 2025, and reaffirmed that only dates approved by the President and included in the official 2025 holiday calendar are to be observed.
This clarification comes in response to growing public speculation about whether August 4—formerly celebrated as Founders’ Day—would be recognized this year.
The Ministry emphasized that August 4 is not among the approved statutory holidays for 2025 and advised the public, businesses, and organizations to continue normal operations on that day.
