Anloga DCE embarks on developmental tour to drive growth and equity in the District

Anloga, Volta Region – June 2025

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Anloga, Hon. Sandra Seyram Kpedor, has embarked on an extensive familiarisation and working tour across several communities and institutions within the Anloga District. Her visits, which span healthcare, education, infrastructure, and community engagement, reflect a deep commitment to equitable development, youth empowerment, improved service delivery, and public health.

Healthcare and Education in Focus

She began her tour by visiting the Anloga Clinic, where she inspected service delivery and infrastructure. The DCE noted the clinic’s importance in meeting community health needs and assured the staff of her support toward enhanced operations.

She then visited the Keta Nursing and Midwifery Training College, where she interacted with staff and explored the institution’s facilities. She commended the college for its critical role in developing skilled health professionals for the Anlo area, Volta and the country as a whole.

In the area of technical and vocational education, she visited Tegbi Caring Sisters Vocational Institute and Anlo Technical Institute. She expressed admiration for the active learning and skill acquisition taking place, emphasising the institutions’ roles in offering meaningful opportunities and renewed hope for the youth.

Addressing Infrastructure Deficits

The DCE’s tour took her to Suipe, Dewego, and Dewenu communities, where she assessed the deteriorating road and bridge conditions. The wooden Bailey bridge at Suipe and the collapsed bridge between Dewego and Dewenu have severely affected mobility and safety.

According to her, in line with the Government’s development agenda and her commitment to equitable growth, she has directed the District Assembly Engineers to prioritise the urgent repair and reconstruction of these roads and bridges.

Strengthening Security Infrastructure

In addressing public safety, the DCE visited the Azanu Police Station and staff accommodation, which have remained unoccupied for years. She assured residents that discussions are underway with key stakeholders to operationalise the facility towards a broader strategy to enhance security in the Shime enclave and surrounding areas. She also donated some security (streetlights) lights to the National Fire Service office in the District, which serves both Anloga, Keta and their surrounding communities.

Transportation and Revenue Enhancement

In steps toward improving urban planning and mobility, Hon. Sandra, alongside the GPRTU and other drivers’ unions, commissioned the renovated car park (taxi rank) in Anloga. She noted that the facility would enhance safety by preventing taxis from parking along the road corridors and contribute to revenue generation for the Assembly.

Promoting Health and Well-being

Demonstrating leadership in health advocacy, the DCE donated HIV self-test kits and condoms to the Anloga District Health Directorate. The initiative aims to expand access to HIV prevention and early detection tools, supporting Sustainable Development Goal 3: “Good Health and Well-being.”

“Together, we will continue to build a healthier, more informed, and resilient community,” Hon. Kpedor affirmed.

Market Engagement and Sanitation Concerns

She also visited the two main markets in the District, that is, Anloga and Anyanui markets, to interact with the traders for their first-hand concerns. She gathered first-hand feedback on challenges such as poor roads, inadequate drainage, unsanitary conditions, and the absence of a public address system.

“I am committed to working with relevant authorities to address these issues and create a safer, cleaner, and more efficient market environment,” she assured.

Hon. Sandra Kpedor’s proactive engagement across multiple sectors signals a renewed sense of purpose and leadership in the Anloga District. Her inclusive approach, rooted in stakeholder dialogue, field inspections, and immediate action, aligns with national development goals and the aspirations of the people she serves.

As the Anloga District continues on its development journey, residents are hopeful that the DCE’s hands-on leadership will drive lasting transformation and uplift communities across the area.
