Anlo State, family fix dates for funeral of Agbotadua Kumassah

The families of the late Agbotadua Togbivi Kumassah, in consultation with the Anlo State, have announced arrangements for his final funeral rites.
According to the programme, a wake-keeping will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at his private residence located behind the AME Zion Church and School at Vui-Keta and followed by the funeral service on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the KETASCO Park, Dzelukofe-Keta.
The funeral service is expected to attract a large gathering of mourners from traditional authorities, academia, political circles, and the public, in recognition of the diverse roles played by the late Kumassah during his lifetime.
A private burial service will later be held at his hometown, Anyako, within the Amugo-Wego area of the Keta Municipality, in accordance with family tradition.
The funeral arrangements were agreed upon and officially announced by family heads during a funeral planning meeting held on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the residence of the late Kumassah in Vui-Keta.
Confirming the details to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the following day, the Secretary of the Funeral Planning Committee, Mr Hommey Felix, disclosed that several sub-committees had been constituted to ensure effective coordination and the successful organisation of the funeral.
Mr Nani Kumassah and Mr Thomas Kumassah represented the paternal family, while Madam Angola Aguadze and Madam Attipoe represented the maternal family, in line with Anlo-Ewe customary practices governing funeral planning.
Some residents who spoke to the GNA recounted the immense contributions of the late Kumassah to education and community development.
Before his demise, Mr Kumassah was a retired professional teacher who served in institutions such as Anlo-Afiadenyigba Secondary School and Keta Senior High Technical School (KETASCO), where he was a board member until his untimely passing in December last year.
Meanwhile, another funeral planning meeting has been scheduled for Sunday, March 1, 2026, ahead of the main funeral activities slated for Friday, March 27, and Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Keta.
