Aggrieved CLOGASG members disassociate themselves from ongoing strike

A faction of CLOSAG calling itself “Aggrieved members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana” have disassociated themselves from the ongoing nationwide strike initiated by the Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG, Isaac Bampoe Addo in respect to agitations against Mr Samuel Adom Botchwey’s appointment as head of Births and Deaths Registry.

However, the aggrieved members claim that the strike is “unjustified and irrelevant to their conditions of service”. They claim that the CLOGSAG executives are focusing on matters that do not serve the interests of members, instead of addressing critical issues such as the implementation of the new salary structure.

“We expect our Executive Body to take the necessary steps to address our concerns, which include negotiating a better minimum wage, ensuring better working conditions, and implementing the Enhanced Salary Structure without further delay,” the group stated.

Meanwhile, the CLOGSAG led by their Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe Addo, maintains that the appointment of Mr. Samuel Adom Botchway as the Head of the Births and Deaths Registry is a clear case of political interference in the Civil Service, as the strike is expected to commence Thursday February 20th, 2025

However, the aggrieved members argue that the President has the authority to make such appointments, as stated in Section 2 of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act 2020, Act 1027.

The group is calling on its members to desist from the strike and report to work as usual.
