Adaklu:-Traditional Council Secretariat Commissioned to boost Chieftaincy-Governance ties

The newly constructed and fully furnished Adaklu Traditional Council Secretariat office has been officially commissioned, marking a landmark moment for traditional governance and socio-economic development in the Adaklu area.

The ceremony which took place Friday 23rd January 2026, attracted chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, and residents from across various communities within the Adaklu area

The Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza who led the project was present as well as the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, and  Minister for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Mr Ahmed Ibrahim who served as special guests.

The establishment of the council office is expected to strengthen traditional leadership, foster closer collaboration between traditional rulers and government institutions, and serve as a catalyst for peace, unity, and sustainable development within the Adaklu Traditional Area.

Togbegã Gbobi Atsa V, Paramount Chief of Adaklu and President of the Traditional Council, praised the project as a “bold and timely intervention” that would positively impact the community. 

He expressed gratitude to President H.E. John Dramani Mahama for his vision and commitment to inclusive development. 

“This council will not only strengthen traditional governance but will also ensure that the people of Adaklu have a stronger voice in governance and development planning,” Togbi said.

Hon. Agbodza speaking to the media, highlighted on the role of the council in maintaining harmony, which he described as essential for sustainable local development. 

He revealed that the construction of the council office was financed through his share of the MP’s Common Fund, while he personally covered the furnishing of the facility. 

“I am proud that this facility will not only serve as an administrative hub but also as a center for dialogue, planning, and growth in Adaklu,” he stated.

The council features offices, a conference room, and other essential facilities, which will support traditional authorities in planning and implementing community development initiatives. Leaders at the event emphasized the importance of preserving cultural values, promoting transparency, and leveraging traditional leadership in driving development.

Residents and some chiefs present praised the initiative and promised to utilize the project to realize its full potential for a better Adaklu.
