Mobile Money Vendor Fatally Shot in Armed Robbery at Aflao

A mobile money agent met a tragic end on Monday, April 28, after falling victim to an armed robbery attack by unidentified gunmen at Gbagblakope, a community in Afao within the Ketu South Municipality.

The deceased, identified as Christopher Ahordo, about 33 years old, popularly known as Colombo, was reportedly killed around 6:00 pm while closing his mobile money shop.

According to reports, the incident occurred under unusual circumstances, as Colombo had extended his operations beyond his usual 5:00 p.m. closing time.

Eyewitnesses recounted that two armed men dressed in long robes and with their faces concealed approached the victim while he was packing up. They seized a bag believed to contain cash and, in the process of fleeing, one of the assailants shot Colombo in the left side of his chest.

He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Bystanders were reportedly unable to render immediate help, as the armed robbers fired shots indiscriminately while escaping into a nearby bush.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident as investigations continue.
