Two Police Officers Killed in Armed Robbery Ambush

A tragic incident unfolded in the Upper East Region of Ghana, where two police officers were shot and killed by armed robbers at Poyamirea, a community near Binduri. The incident occurred on Sunday, April 13, when the officers, dressed in plain clothes, were traveling on a private motorbike from Bongo to Binduri.

The Ambush

The officers were ambushed by the robbers, who shot them and made off with the motorbike. The identities of the deceased officers are being withheld pending notification of their families.

Police Response

The Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt for the armed robbers responsible for the attack. According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs, the police administration is committed to apprehending the perpetrators and bringing them to justice.

Condolences and Assurance

The Police Administration has expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved families, the Regional Commander, and all officers in the region. ACP Ansah-Akrofi assured the public that every effort is being made to catch the culprits, stating, “The perpetrators of this heinous crime will be arrested and brought to face justice; and we will surely get them.”

Investigation Underway

Investigations are currently ongoing to identify and apprehend the suspects. The police are working diligently to ensure that justice is served and the perpetrators are held accountable for their actions
