President Mahama’s X account hacked, steps taken to restore it

The official X account of President John Dramani Mahama (@JDMahama) has been hacked, according to the Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Ofosu Kwakye

In an interview with GHOne TV, Kwakye Ofosu confirmed the breach, attributing it to unidentified individuals. He reassured the public that steps were being taken to restore the account.

“Yes, the account has been hacked. Some unscrupulous persons have gained access to it, but recovery efforts are ongoing, and we expect to resolve the issue soon,” he stated.

The security breach was first noticed on Sunday when Mahama’s account began promoting a cryptocurrency scheme associated with “Solanafrica”—a fraudulent project falsely linked to the former president. The scheme, which claimed to offer free payments across Africa via the Solana blockchain, was later exposed as a scam, leaving investors with financial losses after a rug-pull.

Although the original suspicious post has been removed, the compromised account continues to share crypto-related content, including hints at another memecoin launch.

Authorities are actively working to regain control of the account and have advised the public to disregard any posts from the handle until it is fully secured.
