Volta Regional Minister stresses the importance of ethical Journalism for the Regions’ growth

Ho, February, 2025 – Mr James Gunu in a recent engagement with the leadership of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Volta/Oti Chapter, Volta Regional Minister, underscored the pivotal role of ethical journalism in the socio-economic advancement of the region. As a GJA member himself, Mr. Gunu lauded the dedication of journalists and emphasized the necessity of adhering strictly to professional ethics.

Mr. Gunu highlighted the critical importance of ethical journalism in fostering transparency and accountability, which are essential for the region’s accelerated growth. He reaffirmed President John Dramani Mahama’s unwavering commitment to resetting Ghana on a path of rapid development and assured the GJA of continued partnership in promoting development, transparency, and accountability.

The meeting also addressed the safety of journalists and explored avenues to strengthen collaboration with major development partners. Mr. Gunu’s call for strict adherence to journalistic ethics reflects a broader commitment to responsible media practices as a cornerstone for regional progress.

GJA Volta Regional Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Agbaxode, congratulated Mr. Gunu on his appointment and assured him of the association’s full support in advancing the region’s development agenda.

He also appealed to the Regional Minister to ensure the completion of the GJA’s Volta Press Center project, highlighting the association’s commitment to enhancing media infrastructure in the region.

This engagement marks a significant step towards fostering a collaborative environment where ethical journalism and governmental efforts align to drive the socio-economic development of the Volta Region.
