Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment pays working visit to National Service Authority

The Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, Mr. George Opare Addo, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to youth development during his maiden working visit to the National Service Authority (NSA).

The visit, which took place shortly after his swearing-in by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, provided an opportunity for the Minister to engage with the Authority’s leadership and also to familiarise himself with its operations.

Mr. Opare Addo was warmly welcomed by Mr Felix Gyamfi, Acting Director General of the NSA and Madam Ruth Dela Seddoh, Acting Deputy Director General, and other senior officials.

During his interaction, the Minister outlined key initiatives aimed at strengthening the Authority and enhancing its role in national development.

Among the initiatives He mentioned were the mechanisation of NSA farms to address food insecurity and create job opportunities, the launch of the “Edwumawura” and “1 Million Coders Programme” to equip Ghanaian youth with digital skills, and measures to improve the conditions of service for NSA staff and service personnel.

The Minister also emphasized the importance of payroll integrity, pledging to eliminate ghost names to ensure timely and fair allowances for service personnel.

Mr. Opare Addo assured the NSA leadership of the government’s dedicated support and encouraged collaboration to transform the Authority into a world-class institution.

“Together, we will overcome challenges and build an institution that truly empowers Ghanaian youth,” he stated.

This visit is a testament of the Mahama led administration’s commitment to leveraging youth empowerment as a catalyst for national development.
