The Mama Hogbe Beauty Pageant, in partnership with Mind Builders Africa, has announced a three-day free skills training programme aimed at equipping young people between the ages of 18 and 35 with practical and employable skills.
The initiative, scheduled to take place in Anloga/Keta in September 2026, will focus on two key areas: confectionery and pastry making, and digital marketing and social media management.
Announcing the initiative during an interaction with Veritasnewsgh.com, reigning Mama Hogbe Queen, Miss Enyonam Ahiabor, said the programme forms part of the social impact mandate of the pageant and represents one of the key projects being undertaken by them as current winners.
According to her, the initiative goes beyond skills acquisition, as it seeks to provide beneficiaries with practical knowledge that can enhance their economic opportunities and enable them to become more self-reliant.
“This is not just a training programme; it is a project in fulfilment of our mandate as winners of the Mama Hogbe Pageant. We want to equip our brothers and sisters across the area with practical skills that can create opportunities for them.”
Miss Grace Elikplim Agbetsi, First Runner-Up, encouraged young people to take advantage of the opportunity, describing the selected training areas as relevant to the current needs of the youth.
“These are training areas that were carefully selected, considering the kind of skills needed most by young people in the area. We believe participants will acquire practical knowledge that can make a meaningful difference in their lives.”
The organisers said the training is completely free, with participants receiving certificates of participation upon completion of the 3-days program
Interested persons are required to submit their full name, date of birth, postal address, GPS address, any valid ID number, active phone number, highest educational qualification and email address to register as requirement to designated contact numbers
The organisers have urged interested young people to register early, noting that spaces are limited.
The Mama Hogbe Beauty Pageant is an annual cultural pageant associated with the Anlo Hogbetsotso Festival, which celebrates the history, culture and heritage of the Anlo people.
Beyond the competition, winners of the pageant are expected to undertake social-impact and empowerment initiatives aimed at contributing to the development of young people and communities.
The current winners have already begun fulfilling this mandate. In May 2026, they undertook an educational support initiative dubbed “Mama Hogbe BECE Success Drive 2026” where they donated essential stationery to candidates preparing to sit the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The upcoming skills training therefore forms part of the pageant’s broader commitment to youth empowerment, skills development and positive community impact.
Miss Newlove Kekekli Ahiatrogah, The second runner-up, also disclosed plans for additional projects, including sensitisation and donation programmes aimed at addressing menstrual poverty and substance abuse among schoolchildren in the Anlo enclave and beyond.
