Denu (Volta Region) June 2026
The Ras Muta Foundation, in partnership with the Nugoryiyi Foundation, has officially cut sod for the construction of a four-unit modern toilet facility at Denu Chicago Basic School in the Ketu South Municipality.
The ceremony, held on Monday, June 29, 2026, at the school premises, brought together representatives of both foundations, school authorities, community members, youth groups, and Unit Committee members to witness the commencement of the project.
The sod-cutting was led by the Assembly Member for the area and Chief Executive Officer of the Nugoryiyi Foundation, Hon. Israel Selikem Bossman, together with members of the immediate family of the late Edem Mutta Nyasorgbor “Ras Muta”.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Bossman described the project as a major investment in the welfare of schoolchildren and the community’s future.
“Every child deserves access to safe and decent sanitation. This project reflects our commitment to improving education through better infrastructure and stronger community partnerships,” he said.
The Headteacher of Denu Chicago Basic School expressed gratitude to the two foundations for responding to one of the school’s critical needs.
“This facility will greatly improve hygiene, protect the health of our pupils, and create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning. We are sincerely grateful for this intervention,” the Headteacher said.

The new sanitation facility, expected to be completed within four months, will provide pupils and staff with improved toilet facilities, helping to promote cleanliness, dignity, and better health outcomes within the school.
Access to adequate sanitation remains essential to quality education. Modern toilet facilities help reduce the spread of disease, improve school attendance, particularly among young girls, and create a healthier and more dignified learning environment. The project is therefore expected to make a lasting impact on the well-being and academic life of pupils while strengthening public health in the wider Denu community.
The organisers commended the strong partnership between the two foundations, describing the initiative as a testament to their shared commitment to community development. Special recognition was also given to the Chief Executive Officer of the Ras Muta Foundation, Mr. Seth Dodo “Sizzla” Nyasorgbor, for his dedication and support in making the project a reality.
