President John Dramani Mahama has delivered a stirring message of support to the Black Stars ahead of Ghana’s opening FIFA World Cup match against Panama in Toronto, assuring the team of the unwavering backing of the government and the Ghanaian people.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the President described Ghana’s fifth World Cup appearance as a testament to the nation’s resilience and urged the players to carry the hopes, dreams, and heritage of millions of Ghanaians onto the global stage.

He also called on the Ghanaian diaspora in Toronto and across North America to serve as the team’s “12th Man” by creating a vibrant atmosphere of support in the stands.
President Mahama further announced that arrangements had been made to ensure nationwide television coverage of the tournament, allowing Ghanaians across the country to follow every moment of the Black Stars’ campaign.
“Play for the flag. Play for the children dreaming of greatness in your footsteps,” the President urged, expressing confidence that the Black Stars would make the nation proud on football’s biggest stage.
