Anlo Chiefs call on NDC to champion peaceful elections
An entourage of Anlo Chiefs and elders led by Awoamefia Togbi Sri III and Awadada Togbi Agbeshie Awusu II has called on all political actors, particularly the National Democratic Congress leadership, to prioritize peace in the upcoming general elections in December.
The Chiefs made this call over the weekend when Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) paid a courtesy call on them at the Awoamefia’s palace as part of his campaign tour of the region.
In a welcome speech by Awadada Togbi Agbeshie Awusu II, he blessed the national chairman and his team, wished them a successful campaign calling on them to utilize the moments to preach their campaign messages instead.
“Ghanaians will vote for you based on whatever message you carry now as well as your achievements because you have ruled Ghana before, but as traditional rulers, all we urge you to do is to carry out your campaign activities devoid of hate speech and activities that may distort the peace we enjoy now,”
The Awoamefia, Togbi Sri III, also made a similar call to the NDC chairman when it was his turn to speak.
“What I am praying for is that we have a very peaceful, free, transparent and violent free elections because this is what all Ghanaians are looking for, We need to have the same Ghana as it is now after the elections, so am urging you and your party to embark on very decent campaign activities,”
Mr Asiedu Nketia said the visit was not only to pay a courtesy call but it was an important visit since Anlo is the root of the NDC party, He then called on the Chiefs and the elders to pray for them as they go into the elections to come out victorious,”
He was accompanied by Mr Rolex Miheso, Anlo Constituency chairman, Mr Richard Sefe, member of parliament for Anlo Constituency, Mr Mawutor Agbavitor, Volta Regional chairman, Mr Vincent Kuagbenu, Alhaji Mohammed, Deputy Director of Logistics and other party stalwarts from both national and region.
Togbi Kpemini Gawu V of Whuti, Togbi Bedi Ahadzi IV of Bedikofe, Togbi Ahormene IV of Tegbi, Mama Dutsi II of Anloga and Fiator Ferdinand Abodakpi were some Chiefs and elders that received the NDC chairman’s entourage
