Hohoe United FC withdraw from the Ghana Premier League

The club announced the decision on April 1 following an emergency board and management meeting, stating they will formally communicate their position to the Ghana Football Association.
Hohoe United, who are competing in their debut top-flight season, have collected 30 points from 27 matches and sit in the bottom two, facing the threat of relegation with seven games remaining.
Club officials say their decision has been driven by growing frustration over a combination of disciplinary action and what they describe as unfavourable treatment throughout the campaign.
Central to their concerns is a three-match home ban imposed over a security incident earlier in the season at the Hohoe Sports Stadium. The club argue the timing of the ruling has severely affected their survival chances, with 20 of their 30 points having been secured at home.
The sanction means Hohoe United would play only one of their remaining fixtures at their home ground, with six matches effectively away, even in instances where they are designated as the home side.
In addition, the club have raised concerns over officiating and the general handling of their matches, which they believe have further contributed to their current position on the table.
While the decision is yet to be formally submitted to the Ghana FA, the move could attract further sanctions under league regulations if the withdrawal is completed.
The development marks a dramatic turn in what was meant to be a historic debut season, now overshadowed by controversy and uncertainty over the club’s immediate future.
