Black Stars Coach Otto Addo sacked

The Ghana Football Association has formally sacked the head coach of the Black Stars, Mr Otto Addo, following a string of poor performances in recent matches as head coach
The decision comes after the Black Stars suffered a 2-1 defeat to Germany on Monday evening at Stuttgart, following a 5-1 loss earlier to Austria a few days ago
Though Otto Addo’s dismissal comes at a very critical time, when the national team is preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, it is also deemed by many Ghanaians as necessary, claiming the team is not in good form to play at the World Cup, considering the tough group Ghana is placed in

Meanwhile, Minister for Sports and Recreation, Mr Kofi Iddie Adams, also acknowledged earlier that Ghana is not yet fully prepared for the tournament but assured Ghanaians that structures are being put in place to ensure the team’s readiness.
The Ghana Football Association will, in the coming days, announce a new roadmap for the senior national team, a new technical team, and final preparations for the upcoming mondial.
Ghana is placed in group “H” of the World Cup, along with Panama, England and Croatia which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Coach Otto Addo recorded 22 matches in his second term as head coach of the Black Stars, securing 8 wins, 5 draws, and 9 losses, with the team scoring 32 goals and conceding 28.
