Russian Embassy Responds to Viral Videos Featuring Citizen with Ghanaian Women

The Russian Embassy in Accra, Ghana, has reacted to an incident involving a Russian man seen in viral videos allegedly coercing and seducing some Ghanaian women
The Embassy, in an official Facebook post here, confirmed its knowledge of the incident
“The Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Ghana has taken note of the reports in the Ghanaian media on the alleged involvement of a supposedly Russian citizen engaged in sexual activities with some Ghanaian women and recorded and circulated those acts without consent.”
Though the Embassy did not provide any further details and did not confirm the allegations, their statement marked the first official reaction from the Russian side since the development of the issue.
Background
A few days ago, some videos surfaced on social media involving a Russian man who is seen coercing women into alleged sexual activities. Some of the explicit videos have been uploaded to platforms such as Telegram and paywall porn websites.
The action over the period generated reactions and debates, resulting in the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation and the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, initiating investigations into the act.
Many Ghanaians expressed their dissatisfaction that the videos were recorded and shared without the consent of the women involved.
It is following this that the Russian Embassy made the public announcement
However, the Ministry of Gender has advised the Ghanaian public to desist from sharing the videos and images of the acts and people involved, citing that, “sharing intimate material without consent constitutes an offence under the Cybersecurity Act, 2020”
