Wife of Late Ayawaso East MP Declares Intention to Contest By-Election

Hajia Amina Adam, Wife of the late Ayawaso East Member of Parliament, has announced her intention to contest the upcoming by-election following the death of her husband, Hon. Mahama Naser Toure.
The decision was contained in an official statement issued on Thursday, 22nd January 2026, in which Hajia Amina Adam declared her intentions.
According to her, her decision was influenced by numerous calls from constituents, party members, and elders of the constituency to replace her late husband.
“There has been a clarion call from many quarters in my constituency and beyond to step into the shoes of my late husband, who served the East Ayawaso Constituency with distinction. I have pondered over the calls from well-meaning members of the constituency, especially the elders and grassroots, and in so doing, I accept the call to serve my people,” she said.

The Electoral Commission (EC) announced earlier that a parliamentary by-election for the Ayawaso East Constituency will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) also announced guidelines for the conduct of Primaries towards the by-election to fill the vacancy created by the demise of Mahama Naser Toure in the Constituency.
Meanwhile, there are other reports of key party faithfuls, including Mr Baba Jamal, showing interest in contesting. Veritas News will follow the process in the constituency for more updates.
