Bees swarm kills farmer at Wudzedeke

A middle-aged man, has died after being attacked by a swarm of bees at Wudzedeke in the Agortime-Ziope District of the Volta Region.

The deceased, identified as Adzaho Agba, was reportedly returning home from his farm, when he was attacked by the bees under circumstances yet to be fully established.

A source, who disclosed the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) and wished to remain anonymous, said Agba did not die instantly after the attack.

He was rushed to a clinic at Akatsi where he received medical attention and was later discharged.

However, the source explained that Agba’s condition deteriorated a few days later, leading to his death.

The source expressed concern and disappointment over the incident, noting that this had followed similar bee attack cases in the Volta Region, citing a recent bee attack in the Anloga District that reportedly claimed the lives of two learners, raising concerns about public safety.

Confirming the incident to the GNA, Torgbui Vizaze Adzaho V, the Chief of Wudzedeke and Awadada of the Ziope Traditional Area, said Mr Agba indeed died because of the bee attack.

He said the funeral of the deceased had been scheduled for February 7, 2026.

Torgbui Adzaho also expressed distress over the recurring incidents of bee attacks in the area and called for increased public education and preventive measures, to prevent further loss of lives resulting from such encounters.

He urged residents, especially farmers, to be cautious while working on their farms and appealed to the relevant authorities to investigate the growing incidence of bee attacks and put appropriate measures in place to protect communities.
