Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has formally presented the report on his efforts at brokering a lasting peace in Bawku.
A comprehensive report on the Bawku peace mediation process was prepared after separate meetings with factions in the Bawku conflict.
Both factions involved in the long-standing Bawku conflict at the end of the mediation, openly declared that they are “one people” with “no reason to be at war, with each other.”
At Tuesday’s ceremony to formally present the final report to President John Mahama, Otumfuo Osei Tutu stressed the need for the peace and understanding the factions have pledged to hold.
President John Dramani Mahama pointed out that peace in Bawku in important to maintain the in the whole of Ghana.
According to President Mahama, it is crucial to have peace in Bawku given its proximity to Ghana’s Sahel neighbors
